Figured we should update the news page since it hasn't been updated since September. Time sure flies by when your hard at work. The reason this page is never updated is because we use the construction page to post updates. Continue checking there for updates, but remember as Mid-Pac draws nearer and nearer, updates will taper off.

The rules are out!! Time to get to work!! 

09/03/08 

The first meeting of the year went well. The turn out was no where near what we were expecting which was disappointing to say the least, but we are hoping to recruit more people over the next couple of weeks at the various ASCE events. 

There is a kick-off bbq this Saturday the 6th at 1pm, Lake Cunningham! Feel free to come out and eat some food, socialize, and take a spin in a concrete canoe. 

09/01/08 

The name/theme for the 2009 canoe has been chosen--we will release the name in a couple of weeks (once the 2009 team logo is finalized).

08/16/08

We finished putting all the tarps around the tent, brought in some tables and shelves, and cleaned up the construction table in preparation for modification. 

08/06/08 

We erected the first portion of the tent today! The canoe season has officially begun! (Not like it ever ended, but still..)

08/02/08 

Unfortunately the tent did not arrive on Friday so we were unable to put it up on Saturday. We did, however, clean out the concrete lab storage room, disposing of old materials and cleaning up the materials we will need for this year. The tent should arrive Monday and we will put it up mid-week.

ASCE Officer Meeting.

We proposed that ASCE fund a new construction tent for the team.

Site updates continue; making progress slowly, but surely.

Project Manager, Anthony Cirinelli and Project Engineers, Alana Guzzetta and Patrick Frawley conducted the first official leadership meeting for the 08-09 year. Items discussed included: Fundraising, Project Schedule, & Construction Area.

Launch of new website layout.

University of Nevada, Reno is the new National Concrete Canoe Champion! University of California, Berkeley reeled in a tight 2nd place finish. Congratulations to both teams on their hard earned finish! These teams are our competitors in the Mid-Pacific Regional Conference.

Our Project Engineers went to the National Competition in Canada hoping to bring home some extra knowledge.
